ET TALK...

Nate's School Pics...

I wrote about Nate starting school at the start of the new year, but I forgot to post a few pics. His teachers sent me these. He has truly amazed me! He LOVES going to school and is so proud and happy when he returns home each day. His speech is really coming along. I am understanding more and more, and his accuracy is improving dramatically when asked to pronounce a word more carefully and slowly. His teacher informs me that he participates in circle time, follows directions, and plays very well with the other children! She is also happy to see that he can use the bathroom on his own without any difficulties.

When I ask him what he did each day he usually always replies with, "Hmmmm, I eat and play!" Then he digs in his backpack to show me what project he made. He and I are both beaming with pride!

January 8 - Nate's first day! This is on the bus ride there. He cried when he let go of me, but obviously was fine within a few blocks of home. He has not cried again since this day.

Valentine's Day...

On Valentine's Day I went to ET' school to volunteer for his class party. I had so much fun! Because of this, I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day with the daycare kids on Friday. This particular Friday was also "parent date night" so it was a very long work day, but loads of fun!!!

Valentine class of 2013...

We started out the morning decorating bags to hold our Valentine's.

We sat in a circle and passed out Valentine's. The kids were so proud of what they brought.

We made a GIANT Valentine to send to someone special. The kids stretched their arms out on butcher paper and I traced their body. I wrote the words, "I love you this much! Here's a hug from me to you!" Nate was not in the mood to color his AT ALL. When I tried to make him color, he crumpled up his paper, threw it in the garbage and gave me the stink eye. I guess he told me! He's barely 3, so I didn't push it. We had A LOT of activities planned for the day.

We even decorated large envelopes to send our "hug" in the mail.

We sang "H-E-A-R-T" to the tune of "BINGO."

The kids were given their own box of conversation hearts to sort, graph, and measure with.

They could measure how many hearts fit on the inside, around, or across two different sized hearts.

We played a dance version of Musical Hearts! (A version of Musical Chairs.)

For lunch we ate heart shaped grilled cheese sandwiches, red tomato soup, strawberries, a Baby Bel cheese with a heart punched out, and chocolate milk.

For story time I read Lilly's Chocolate Heart. Each kid was given a chocolate heart wrapped in red foil, just like Lilly!

After nap we ate cupcakes, of course!

Nate just wanted to eat his cupcake.

In the afternoon we played a few games....My Turn, Your Turn.

Dice Hearts Game...

For date night I started out the evening with a book titled, The Day It Rained Hearts.

We made a craft where we made umbrellas with muffin liners and placed heart stickers on our paper to make it look like it was raining hearts.

For dinner we ate Papa Murphy's heart shaped pizza!

After dinner we played a few more games! Hand to heart beanbag toss...

The kids were challenged to a game of "Who can stack the tallest tower of large conversation hearts?"

The kids tried to drop small conversation hearts into glass jugs.

The younger kids just had fun sticking the hearts in the jug and dumping them out.

We made heart shaped Valentine baskets that we filled with Hershey kisses. We gave these to the Mom's and Dad's as a way of saying "Thank you!"

We estimated how many Hershey kisses were in the jar. L- guessed it exactly right!

We played "Ten More Bingo!" We rolled the dice, added ten (a one in front) and found that number on our Bingo cards. The Bingo cards had numbers 11-16 on them. This was great practice to learn our teen numbers.
