An update on our fridge...

Many of you know that our refrigerator broke down on Saturday, November 19. The repair man was not able to even make it to our house until Monday, November 28. When he came he said he thinks water got in the seam of the freezer and froze, causing the seal to not work probably when closing the door. He recommended we unplug the whole thing, thaw it out, clean out the seals, and try again to see if it works. Jay did this and then tested the temperature of the freezer and refrigerator for three days with a very expensive thermometer he had borrowed. By Friday, December 2 (nearly two weeks after it broke), we realized that Eric (our repair man) was correct and the fridge needed no repairs. We loaded up our fridge again, but not our freezer. Jay wanted a few days to keep checking things out. Just yesterday, we realized that the water that is freezing in the seal is coming from the water dispenser on the fridge door. We think the boys are dripping a small amount of water when they are helping themselves to a drink.
As annoying as it was to have to climbs the stairs for two weeks for even the smallest item, I am so glad that we had the downstairs fridge to save us. Also, as annoying as it was to hear there was really nothing wrong with the fridge, I am just glad that we didn't have to put any more money into the thing. According to the Eric, refrigerators theses days do not last longer than 10-15 years. Yikes! That means we are not far away from having to replace ours.

I love this picture I took of Jay and the boys checking things out. The boys are never too far away when Jay has a project going on. :)
