Darlyn and Bob's 50th Wedding Anniversary...

On June 4th we had the privilege of celebrating Paul's parents 50th wedding anniversary a bit with them! We are so happy for them, and so thankful for the example of love that they have shown us! I asked them to bring a photo of their wedding day. That was then, this is now! Wow! What a blessing to have someone to lean on for 50 years!!! On this day we honor them both, and give them our admiration, appreciation, and love!

They brought Emmett his birthday gift...

Then we all went to one of Emmett's ball games...

Emmett, What we love about you...

Emmett,

We cannot say enough how much you have changed this year!!!!  You are becoming such a young man!  I have heard so many people describe you as a "lover" because you have such a heart of gold!  You are becoming more sweet, sensitive, loving, compassionate, and mature as each year passes!  Dad and I could tell more this year how much you care about your character and the type of person you portray yourself to be in front of others.  Words cannot say enough how proud we are to call us your parents!

What we love about you...
  • We love that you love to show love to others.  You love giving hugs, and I can only pray that you will never feel uncomfortable giving your mom and dad a kiss on the cheek.
  • We love that you ask so many questions!  You have asked a lot of questions about your Faith in God this year.  I continue to pray that you believe, even when it may seem difficult to have faith in something you cannot see.
  • We love your need for speed.  You like to sit and watch movies occasionally, but when you are not you are constantly on the go.  You love being active and we can only hope this will stay with you your whole life.
  • We love your grin!  Surprisingly your grown up teeth are growing in very straight, and your dimple is still the most adorable thing on this planet!
  • I love your hands...or your "bear paws!"  As your mom, I will always love to look at your hands.  Don't ask me why, I just do.
  • We love that you are still such a healthy eater!
  • We love that you are feeling so proud in learning the piano!  Wow, have you come far!  This year you graduated out of the younger kid books.
  • We love watching you play baseball!  You have become so interested in the game, and you have really excelled!  You were definitely one of the top hitters on your team this year!
  • We love that you are such a great conversationalist!  No need to explain here, you just have always been, and we both LOVE it!
  • We love your sense of humor!  We are continually trying to fine tune this with you.  We really want to see you become a witty man with an attractive sense of humor as you age!  Your dad and I (and your Papa Bob) all feel this is very important.
  • We love that you have an eye for how to clean.  Your dad and I keep a pretty clean house, and you have known how to identify with that.  You also have learned this year how to help out in more ways.  Your biggest chore is dusting and organizing the entire preschool in the basement!
  • We love the bond your have with Nathan.  No other person in your life will share the same bond with you than your brother.  We pray you nurture this relationship your entire your life!
What you love the most...
  • Favorite Restaurant: Tavern and Las Margaritas
  • Movie: Avengers
  • TV Show: Teen Titans Go, but you prefer watching movies on Netflix
  • Friends: Nathan, Autumn, Harrison, Mason, Jaden, Xander, Brandon
  • Food:  Fried Chicken, Pizza, Salad, and Root Beer
  • Toy: You still love any sort of pretend weapon to imagine catching a bad guy with.
  • Thing to do on a weekend: Run around the yard with friends and watch movies.
  • Place to go: Grand View Lodge or anywhere you can go swimming
  • Subject:  Gym and Music...You don't particularly like school all that much, but there are parts that still appeal to you.  Second grade had some tough moments with a boy named Dominic.  We had to teach you to not let the naughty kids consume you.  You were on the look out a lot, to try and spot the good and the bad in people.
  • Book: The Magic Treehouse
  • Clothing: Athletic Pants/Shorts, and Shirt
  • Favorites things that comfort you:  Giant Teddy Bear, Ducky, Kitty Blanket
  • Sport: Packers Football, and Baseball!
8 Year Old Stats:
Height 4' 7.98" - 99% (up 2.98 inches from last year)
Weight 69 lbs. - 86% (up 6 pounds from last year)

Emmett's 8th Birthday!

Emmett's birthday was another memorable one!  Get prepared to read about A LOT of sugary treats!  He asked for monkey bread for breakfast....this continues to be his favorite breakfast treat! (The candles started to melt fast because the bread was fresh from the oven.)

Nate and I sneaked away from preschool for a bit to have lunch with Emmett.  Emmett taught his soon-to-be Kindergarten brother how to go through the lunch line! I love the bond these two have!
Silly faces!

Emmett requested that he bring ice cream sandwiches to school for his school treat. (He has brought ice cream sandwiches to school on his birthday from preschool through 2nd grade now.  It is definitely becoming a tradition!)  Emmett also asked for ice cream cones for his after-school treat...

A full house of happy faces!

Emmett's Grandma/pa L mailed him chocolate covered Oreo cookies.  They didn't know this, but Oreo's are Emmett's all-time favorite cookie!

Emmett opened his birthday presents before we left for dinner.  He originally asked for fried chicken for his birthday, but then he changed his mind.  He decided he wanted to go to the Tavern for dinner instead.

Emmett received a remote control truck, and walk talkies...

I had to take a quick photo of this while we were eating at the restaurant....Emmett is showing me how he thinks he is double jointed.

I love these boys!
I had no idea he would receive an ice cream treat for free on his birthday!  I bought him a small cake for home.  I needed something for him to blow a candle out on....well, now he had two!  Yes, I told you there would be a lot of sugar on this post! Ha!
His cake at home...

On Saturday he invited one of his best friend's over for a sleepover...
We went to a pizza place in Hudson where they serve fried chicken and pizza.  The boys were in heaven!  They also have an arcade where the games are free.  The boys had fun playing while they waited for their food!

I got one cupcake for each boy at Nadia Cakes...Emmett chose an Oreo flavored cupcake!
Playing in the yard after the sunset with glow sticks...
The next morning Emmett opened his gift from Harrison...squirt guns, and a Lego set.

We bought Harrison a Lego set too!
Then we all headed over to the Water Park of America for the day!!!!

Nate was so afraid to go down the small water-slides at first...
...then he learned they were nothing to be scared of.  This defines Nate to a T!

Happy 8th birthday Emmett!
