Swimming Lessons!

We signed the boys up for winter swimming lessons!  Their lessons are on Saturdays, and thankfully they both got the same time slot.  They were both a little slow to warm up, but they LOVE it now.

The instructors thought Emmett could handle a lot, so on the first day they had him doggie paddling from one side of the pool to the other in 5 feet deep water.  He was discouraged at first, because he said it was hard.  Paul and I were thankful he was being challenged.  Now he is a month into it, and he is progressing A LOT!  He can swim half across the pool (the width way) before taking a breath, and his form is improving as well.
Nate cried a bit and was fearful on the first day, but has since warmed up to his instructor and now loves it!  He dips his face in the water and jumps to her without holing on to her hand.  These are the two things he is most proud of.  We are very fortunate that he is only in a class of two, and the other girl has been absent the last two sessions.  So that means he has had a lot of one on one time.

Christmas Jammies!

The boys got their Christmas jammies as an early Christmas present again.  This year Emmett got Elf on the Shelf jammies, and Nate received Olaf jammies.  They were a bit obnoxious looking, but the boys absolutely loved them!  Emmett was in a size 10/12!  I am not sure I will find any cute Christmas jammies that will fit him next year!

Neighborhood Boys...

Here are a few pictures of the neighborhood boys that gather togther and play in the summertime!  I can't even put into words how adorable I think this is!  We are so blessed to have so many great kids (from great families) for the boys to play with!  Thankfully no one has to cross a busy street to get to each others home.  They just hop fences!  I love it!

 Watch out!  Tough guys!

Emmett and Harrison decided to clean out the egress window area and make it their "hideout!"  How cool!

New Life Jackets...

These are just a couple cute photos of the day I bought the boys their new life jackets.  They felt they needed them for our little kiddie pool out back!  Ha!  They were so happy and excited, and seeing them this way just makes me smile!

1st Time Eating an Artichoke...

Emmett nearly ate one whole artichoke.  He loved it!  Nathan passed this time.  I wasn't going to push this one just yet.  If you haven't steamed an artichoke yet, you don't know what your missing!

Our Special Guys!

I love these pictures!  On this day, the boys spent half of their morning fighting imaginary bad guys with their shirts off.  Apparently when your shirt is off, you can show off your muscles and it makes you more tough. :)  Then they spent the second half of their morning wrapping up their stuffed animals and singing lullabies to them.  I am proud to say we are raising strong and sensitive little men!

Santa's cookies...

ET requested that we make Nutter Butter Rudolph cookies again for Santa this year.  ET also made a card and wrapped up some extra coins that he had in Kleenexes.  He always feels the need to give Santa a gift "because he give us gifts."  He is such a sweetie!  We set out our Santa cookie plate and some hot cocoa this year.  Santa ate it all up!

It's official - We are one of THOSE families!

I never wanted to adopt an Elf on the Shelf.  I honestly felt like it would be too much work.  I ended up being suckered into it one day when ET wished, begged, and pleaded his little heart out.  To make a long story short, we have a "cuddle" elf.  In case you don't know (which many of you don't because I made it up), a cuddle elf is one that you can hold and sleep with.  When the kids are away for the day, that is when the elf reports to Santa.
ET has professed his love for his Elf.  He truly treats "Ryan" like a real human being.  He goes everywhere with him, and he even told me "Mom, I love him like a son, so now I know how much you love me!"
Nate doesn't seem as in love.  He cares, just not as much as ET.  His elf's name is "Jack." (I am not sure where he thought of that one.)  He giggles when he finds him in different spots throughout the house, but he doesn't carry him around with him all day.

 I told you....They are inseparable!

On Friday, ET's elf left a note that read..."You made your bed very neat.  Now check the fridge for a special treat!"  The elf left egg nog and Santa cups!  We enjoyed our special treat together while also enjoying homemade gingerbread cookies!  The boys were so excited!

The boys by their trees...

I feel awful that I forgot to take a picture of the boys by their trees during the summer months.  These were taken early November.  Bummer!
